The objectives of the University are to promote study and research in Buddhist and Indic Studies including the principles of Dhamma, a foundational tenet of Indian culture and to facilitate the cross-pollination of ideas and foster harmony amongest different civilizations of the world. For attainment of these objectives the University
shall :—
I. Impart education in Buddhist teachings, contemporary philosophy, traditions and practice.
II. Promote interaction amongst countries of Asia bound by strong historical commonalities of knowledge in areas such as religion, philosophy and culture .
III. Contribute to the promotion of world peace and harmony by bringing together cultures and civilizations of Asia.
IV. Contribute to the improvement of the educational system in India by providing new perspectives on alternative systems of education.
V. Provide education and training in relevant arts, crafts and skills of Asia.
VI. To achieve the above, create a partnership amongst the scholars and academics of Asia and the world.
PROPOSED LOCATION
Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies shall be located very close to Sanchi - the world heritage site, famous for the stupa & ancient relics of Lord Buddha. The University has been allocated 120 acres of land, in fact a hillock on the Bhopal-Sanchi highway not far from the tropic of cancer. The picturesque location is surrounded by green fields & forest laden hills. Work has been initiated for building the University on the lines of rich Buddhist & Indic traditions. Sanchi University has earmarked 20 acres of land for construction of various schools/centres of foreign countries where they may open their schools/centres. They have to bear all the expenses; on land provided by Sanchi University.
The University is trying all its earnest efforts for reviving the old glosry of Great Ancient Indian Education System and enlivening the present scenario by adding values to multifaceted aspects of knowledge, practice and wisdom for the benefit of humankind. The University is carving a niche for preserving treasure of knowledge where ancient Indian wisdom is emerging as a guiding spirit for the contemporary knowledge systems.
Sanchi University is established to address the global issues & shall generally cover educationalists, academicians, philosophers, researchers, practitioners across the world but shall primarily focus on Asian countries - the land of genesis & spread of Buddhist-Indic culture. All aspects of Buddhist-Indic Studies from philosophy to culture; from economics to governance shall be addressed in a holistic manner. It shall invite knowledge & wisdom from all ten directions; shall realise, redeem, research, refine and refurbish it further to disseminate in all walks of life and contribute to the efforts in making ‘Mother Earth’ a better place to live in. This shall also contribute to the interaction among Asian and other countries and facilitate cross pollination of ideas & foster harmony among different Asian civilizations. It shall also promote the preservation & conservation of valuable physical assets, manuscripts; encourage documentation, translation, co-ordination & interaction among different approaches. The University is commited to work on the known & unknown dimensions of knowledge, academics, art, literature, culture, skills related to ‘Dhamma-Dharma’ which has descended under the guidance of great masters.
The University shall evolve itself to pick up the fine signals, philosophical nuances and minuscule conceptual possibilities, concretize them and ensure positive and constructive support & opportunity to establish and flourish. The University shall work with a clear mandate & strong will to discover, understand & establish the principles & philosophies of activities, communication, interactions related to alternate educational systems.
Sanchi University shall endeavor to synthesize the ancient systems with the current needs; re-establish the knowledge catering to present day issues. We expect to revive the old glory of Nalanda, Taxila, Vallabhi, Vikramshila and move forward in current paradigm adding value to all aspects of knowledge, practice & wisdom for the benefit of everyone.
